International Psychogeriatric Association (IPA) – What’s New?

IPA recently adopted a new strategic plan. IPA will be enhancing and expanding many of its current programs and services as well as introducing some new ones. Now more than ever, it is important for all of us to collaborate to improve the mental health of the elderly in Canada and around the world. IPA appreciates CAGP for our longstanding relationship as affiliates of one another. We hope that all of you will join IPA and participate - here are some highlights of what IPA is planning:

IPA is about providing a forum for education, networking and collaboration. Based on feedback from members and other professionals, IPA will offer even more opportunities for sharing knowledge in the future:

  • IPA Congresses – Starting in 2015, the IPA International Congress will be held each year (previously, it has been conducted every two years)

  • IPA Regional Meetings – Starting this year, IPA will resume offering meetings in different areas of the world. We will conduct two regional meetings each year

  • IPA Member Forums – Based on shared interests, regions of the world and professional disciplines, IPA provides the opportunity for interacting with colleagues – whether at an IPA meeting or anytime via the IPA website online communities

  • IPA Learning Portal – For those who want a shorter educational program or can’t travel to a meeting or congress, simply log on to the IPA website for 60-90 minutes online education programs
  • Research Forum – This program is new from IPA and will be introduced in 2015 in conjunction with the IPA Congress. As its name implies, it is a great opportunity to share research projects and funding ideas

There are more programs and services – read more about IPA’s future plans by visiting our new website:
