Maud Lewis Gallery Tour: An Afternoon with Maudie
Art Gallery of Nova Scotia
Maud Lewis was a famous Nova Scotia folk artist who exemplified resilience by creating brightly colored art work full of optimism and joy in spite of serious life hardships including severe rheumatoid arthritis that limited the size of the canvases she could paint. Her actual home was 8 ft by 10.8 ft and painted with folk art all over it. Her house was later transported whole to the Nova Scotia Art Gallery where it is now on exhibit.
For a national film board primer on Maud’s remarkable life see the National Film Board Short film here: A World Without Shadows.
