Dr. Marie-Hélène Rivard

SESSION: The Last and the Next 20 Years in Geriatric Psychiatry

Summarizing information provided by long-standing and new members of the CAGP and CCSMH, this presentation will provide an overview of key developments in the field of Geriatric Psychiatry over the last 20 years (Dr. MF Tourigny-Rivard) and propose priority areas and activities that would most improve the mental health of older adults in Canada in the next 20 years (Dr. MH Rivard). Participants will be encouraged to reflect on how these areas of focus can be integrated into their existing clinical, academic, administrative and advocacy activities.

Dr. Marie-Hélène Rivard graduated as a Fellow in Geriatric Psychiatry with the University of Ottawa in 2019. Through her work at The Royal, she provides medical services to rural communities in Eastern Ontario and long-term care homes in Ottawa. She is a lecturer with the University of Ottawa and has an interest in medical education.

Graduée de l'Université d'Ottawa en 2019, Dre Marie-Hélène Rivard est gérontopsychiatre avec l'équipe du Royal. Elle prodigue des soins en milieu rural dans les comtés de l'est ontarien, ainsi qu'en centres de soins de longue durée à Ottawa. Elle est chargée de cours avec l'Université d'Ottawa et s'intéresse à l'éducation médicale.
