Dr. Christopher Bowie will give a plenary presentation on Sunday afternoon entitled Enhancing Cognition in Severe Mental Disorders. Dr. Bowie is a Professor and the Director of Clinical Training for the Department of Psychology as well as a member of the Department of Psychiatry and Centre for Neuroscience Studies at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. We will also hear about state-of-the-art developments in education in geriatrics psychiatry and competency-based approaches to training. In addition, we will learn about the latest in neuroscience and geriatric psychiatry: topics will include advances in the assessment of neuroplasticity in Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, neuroimaging in late-life schizophrenia, and current advances in understanding the biological underpinning of behavioural symptoms in dementia.
